The Story Wondering down the gorge late in the day, after the sun had slipped behind the hills at my back, only the open sky lit this rock bank across the wash. One stone, angled just right, caught the sky more strongly than the others, glowing brighter in contrast. The long, patient carving of water over time has left the surface rippled, like waves suddenly stilled.
