Creation Story Wandering down through the gorge late in the day, after the sun had slipped behind the hills at my back, it was only the open sky that gave light to the rock bank across the Ovens wash.
In that quiet, fading glow, one stone—angled just so—caught more of the sky than the others, holding the light and reflecting it back with a gentle brilliance. All around it, the surface bore the marks of time. Water, patient and unrelenting, had carved its passage into the stone, leaving behind ripples like waves—suddenly stilled, as though motion itself had been captured and set into the ancient rock.
In that moment, time felt layered—the fleeting light of evening resting upon forms shaped over ages—a quiet meeting of what passes, and what endures.
